Bays Road & Chrysler Water Tower Painting Project

Bays Road & Chrysler Water Tower Painting and Rehabilitation Project

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio, – The Northwestern Water and Sewer District (The District) today announces the start of the Bays Road Water Tower painting project.  Work is necessary to maintain and rehabilitate the tower, which is located on Bays Road, near Interstate 75.  This process includes sandblasting and painting steel components inside and outside the tower.  Workers will start inside the tower using heaters to maintain an ideal painting temperature above 50 degrees.  Work will begin on the exterior of the tower once weather permits.

According District Engineer Tom Stalter, “Painting towers is an important part of maintaining any water system.  Depending on the type of coatings used, weather conditions and age of a tower, towers need painted every ten to fifteen years.”

The $417,000 project will be performed by Industrial Painting Contractors of Taylor, Michigan.  Painting on the Bays Road Tower begins today and will continue through May, weather permitting.

In order to complete this work, it will be necessary for The District Bulk Water station to be closed.  This closure begins today and will continue through May.  For alternative Bulk Water Stations, click here.

Throughout the painting there will be no scheduled residential water outages.  Work only impacts the tower and bulk water station.

Following this work, painting crews will paint and rehabilitate the water tower located at the Chrysler facility off of Chrysler Drive.
