FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Northwestern Water and Sewer District Lead Service Line Replacement Project
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio, – At The Northwestern Water and Sewer District (The District) there is nothing more important than providing our customers with safe, reliable water.
As part of this mission, we want to help keep your household safe from lead. The District is moving forward with the first step in its lead service line replacement project. This week, the District began to notify residents who will be impacted by a project to remove ALL lead service water lines within The District’s water service area. 322 homeowners and property owners in the City of Northwood and Rossford will soon receive a letter informing them about the project.
According to the American Water Works Association (AWWA), the surest way to remove concerns about lead is to remove the entire lead service line.
“This first step is to create awareness for those who are impacted, while it is only 1% of our 19,000 customers, we understand there will be questions, before during and after the work starts,” said Tom Stalter, District Engineer.
The District will continue its outreach efforts with additional mailers, door hangers, and automated phone calls to impacted residents.
Speer Bros., Inc., of Sandusky, Ohio was awarded the $883,365 project. Construction on the project is expected to start in late July or August.
