National 8-1-1 Day
Sunday, August 11th is National 8-1-1 Day—a reminder to contact 8-1-1 before you dig, as required by Ohio law. Whether you’re planting, building, or installing, calling 8-1-1 or visiting oups.org helps prevent injuries, property damage, and utility disruptions. This year, The District has handled over 4,000 utility location requests. By contacting 8-1-1 at least 48 hours before digging, you help protect water and sewer lines and keep our community safe. Connecting Classrooms and Careers: Partnering with Teachers to Inspire the Future
This summer, The District hosted local teachers through the Teacher/Industry Business Boot Camp, where educators earned continuing education credits while learning about careers in water, wastewater, and other industries in Northwest Ohio. By partnering with area educators, The District’s goal is to bring real-world career insights into the classroom. We are excited to see the projects and lessons these teachers develop and look forward to continuing our collaboration to inspire the next generation of water and wastewater professionals.
Stay Hydrated for a Successful School Year!

As the 2025-2026 school year begins, The District urges students to drink water for better health and grades. A 2024 NIH study shows hydration boosts focus and memory by 20%. It also strengthens immunity and enhances physical performance. Our tap water meets EPA standards, so students can confidently fill up at school fountains or at home. We encourage using refillable bottles at school fountains to cut plastic waste. Our community has saved thousands of plastic bottles from reaching the landfills. Make a difference and stay hydrated this school year.
