National 8-1-1 Day
Tuesday, August 11th is National 8-1-1 Day—a reminder to contact 8-1-1 before you dig, as required by Ohio law. Whether you’re planting, building, or installing, calling 8-1-1 helps to prevent injuries, property damage, and utility disruptions.
This year, The District has handled over 4,000 utility location requests. By contacting 8-1-1 forty-eight hours before digging, you help protect water and sewer lines and keep our community safe.

Community Connections
This summer, The District has been proud to spend time in the communities we serve—celebrating the events that make each one unique. From parades to festivals, our team enjoys getting out, connecting with residents, and giving back.
In July, we participated in the McComb Cookie Festival Parade, where our red trucks made an appearance, and we helped support the Rossford Balloon & Fireworks Fest by donating water for event volunteers. We are also excited to sponsor Bloomdale SummerFest for the first time, a long-standing community tradition featuring live music, a car show, and more.
As a local partner, these moments matter to us. We live and work here too, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to be part of the celebrations that bring our communities together.
Now’s the Time to Plan Your WATER Grant Project
As the school year begins, The District encourages local educators to start thinking about projects for our WATER (Water and Environment Teacher Education Resources) Grant Program. Each year, grants of up to $700 are awarded and paid directly to schools to fund projects that promote environmental stewardship and water education.
Teachers are encouraged to begin brainstorming now, as applications open in December. From classroom activities to hands-on conservation efforts, the program helps inspire the next generation of water stewards. Email publicinfo@nwwsd.org for more information.
Walbridge Waterline Work
The District will soon begin work on a waterline project in the Village of Walbridge. This fall, crews will replace a waterline on E. Union Street. We are also designing another waterline project on E. Broadway Street and Walbridge Road/Main Street, and we expect construction to start in this area next year.
Construction Projects
Woodville Road Waterline Replacement
Through September, lane restrictions are possible on Woodville Road between Lemoyne Road and Owen Road for waterline work. Project investment: $1.8 million. Project complete: September.
District-Wide Hydrant Flushing
Through October, weekdays from 8 a.m. until 3:30 p.m., District crews will be flushing hydrants throughout The District service area.
