Rate Forecast
The District annually reviews our water and sewer rates as part of our budget development process. Each year, we carefully track the cost of pumping, treating, storing, distributing, operating, and maintaining our system in compliance with state and federal regulations to forecast rates for the year ahead. We are drafting the 2024 budget
based on our anticipated capital and operating expenses. Our budget will determine if a rate change is necessary.
In 2023, rates increased slightly because of the impact of inflation, increasing our overall capital and operational costs. As we head into 2024, we continue to factor inflation and its impact on planned projects, operations, labor, materials, fuel, and utilities.
Once finalized, The District's Board of Trustees will discuss and approve the 2024 budget and rates. This typically occurs during a December board meeting. Depending on where you live, your water or sewer treatment provider may also increase their rates, impacting your bill. Our upcoming newsletter will feature more details on rates. Dunbridge & SR 582 Sewer and Water Project
The Northwestern Water and Sewer District held a public meeting in November to discuss the upcoming sewer and water project planned for the Dunbridge, Dunbridge Road community and a small portion of SR 582. The purpose of the meeting was to inform residents of the impact of this project. The project aims to build a new sanitary sewer system to address public health and environmental concerns caused by aged septic systems in the area. Additionally, there are plans to extend water service to areas east of Interstate 75.
The project is expected to cost $11 million and will be largely funded by the American Rescue Plan Act, appropriated by the Wood County Commissioners. “This project fits the framework of how local governments should dedicate ARPA funds: to aid public health and economic recovery,” said Craig LaHote, President of the Wood County Commissioners. The project is currently under design and is expected to begin construction in late 2024.
This project is a significant step towards improving the public health and environmental conditions of the Dunbridge community. It is also a testament to the importance of investing in infrastructure to ensure the future well-being of our region. For more information on this project: www.nwwsd.org/engineering-info/projects/
