December Waterworks Newsletter

Rate Forecast

We annually review water and sewer rates during our budget process. For the 2026 budget, we are evaluating anticipated capital and operating expenses, inflation, and an unpredictable bidding climate. We also examine costs for labor, materials, fuel, and utilities. The District’s Board of Trustees will approve the 2026 budget and rates at a December meeting. Our rates will be explained in next month’s newsletter, and any rate changes will be applied on your January bill, mailed in February. For the latest information on the Board’s rate decision, check out nwwsd.org or follow us on social media @NWWSD.

A Milestone Reached in Dunbridge

The Northwestern Water and Sewer District proudly announces the completion of its largest infrastructure project to date: the Dunbridge SR 582 Water & Sewer Project. Spanning 7 miles, the new infrastructure brings public water and sewer services to Dunbridge and the I-75/SR 582 interchange, replacing outdated septic systems, improving water quality, and providing fire protection to a developing area.

Funded through an ARPA allocation from the Wood County Commissioners, a private developer, and a 0% Ohio EPA loan, the $13.1 million project enhances public health, supports future development, and provides vital services to low-income households. This transformative effort is an essential benefit for our environment and a community investment that will help support Wood County for years to come.

WATER Grants

Attention local teachers: It’s time to apply for The District’s Water And Environment Teacher Education Resources (WATER) grants. These grants provide direct funding to teachers supporting water-related initiatives in the classroom. Deadline to apply is January 9th.
