On a warm March day, snow lying in a farm field evaporated into water vapor, condensed into clouds, and fell back to earth, landing as thousands of raindrops in the scenic Maumee River. Most of these drops followed the current to Lake Erie, but one drop, named Drippy, chose a different path. This water drop decided to step outside the water cycle and teach the people of Northwest Ohio how to be responsible for every drop of water.
While part of the water cycle, Drippy saw many changes. Drippy witnessed fellow drops turn green from algae, clean drops become contaminated, and thousands of drops disappear in the drought out west. Drippy hopes all people will learn to take care of water. We can all protect our water with simple actions like turning off the water while brushing our teeth, picking up after our pets, and not dumping fats, oils, and grease down the drain.
Each drop of water is essential, and Drippy is a reminder to be responsible for every drop.
