YOU'RE INVITED TO THE DISTRICT OPEN HOUSE TUESDAY, AUGUST 13th, 3-6 PM
The District's Open House returns on Tuesday, August 13th, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.! This event will be held at our main office, 12560 Middleton Pike, in Bowling Green, Ohio. This year, we invite you to celebrate thirty years of providing clean water in Northwest Ohio. A special presentation will be held at 4 p.m. in our board room to mark this milestone. Our staff will be on hand to guide you through a tour of our high-tech facility. You can also see live demonstrations by the District team. Attendees can also meet members of the Board of Trustees. Of course, there will be fun and entertainment for the whole family. The carnival zoo returns with animals and games. Other activities include bounce houses, a caricature artist, fishing, and giveaways. Just like every year, we will provide food, including burgers, hot dogs, chips, and self-serve ice cream. Don't miss your chance to snap a pic with everyone's favorite water drop mascot, Drippy! We invite you to stop out for a visit. For more information, visit our Facebook events @NWWSD.
SUMMERTIME WATER SAVINGS
The warmer weather often means increased water use for our customers. Since your water bill is based directly on your usage, more water means a higher bill. Below are some tips to help you conserve water and save money. Gardening Tips: 1. Regularly check your outside spigots and garden hoses for leaks. 2. When watering plants, direct water to the root zone using a watering wand, drip irrigation, or soaker hose. 3. Water your lawn or garden during the early morning or evening hours to prevent evaporation. 4. Install rain barrels to collect and store rainwater for watering.
HARMFUL ALGAL BLOOMS
2024 marks the tenth anniversary of the "Do Not Drink" advisory for approximately 6,000 of our Toledo water customers. Our water treatment providers have improved their monitoring of water sources for Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs) and microcystin. This allows them to proactively treat water, making sure your water is safe regardless of bloom severity. The District receives regular updates from our water providers, including Toledo, Oregon, Bowling Green, Perrysburg, Fostoria, and Napoleon, to ensure your water is safe to drink. For more information on HABs or other water quality concerns, visit nwwsd.org.
