WaterSheds reach $3 million in sales
District WaterSheds have reached an exciting milestone: more than $3 million in clean water sales. That’s about 12 million quarters over the years! Most WaterShed revenue is reinvested directly into maintenance needs and site operations. So why do we continue it? The simple answer: The District created WaterSheds to offer clean, affordable drinking water for residents in rural areas with unreliable wells. Because quality and affordability matter to us, prices remain at just 25 cents per gallon. Bring your containers and give it a try for yourself today.
Supporting the communities we serve
The District is proud to support the communities we serve and be part of the events that make summer special. This season, our team is looking forward to celebrating alongside you at local favorites across the area. Whether we’re donating water for volunteers at the Rossford Balloon Festival, joining the fun at the McComb Cookie Festival, or supporting the Bloomdale Summer Festival Kidz Zone, we’re happy to play a small part in what makes these events so meaningful.
These gatherings are what bring our communities together, and we’re grateful to be involved. We hope to see you out and about this summer!
Source water quality: harmful algal blooms
The District actively works with its water treatment providers to monitor for harmful algal blooms (HABs) in all water sources, which include Lake Erie, the Maumee River, and several smaller streams. While about 6,500 customers receive treated Lake Erie water from the City of Toledo and 3,000 from the City of Oregon, the rest of our customers are supplied by other rivers and streams. Go to our website for more information about HAB's.
Teaching teachers about water careers
The District recently hosted local teachers for the Wood County Teacher/Industry Business Boot Camp. Our team gave a behind-the-scenes look at careers in water and wastewater, engineering, GIS, IT, and more. We’re grateful the teachers are taking what they learned back to their classrooms to help inspire the next generation.
