WATER QUALITY REPORT AVAILABLE ONLINE
The District prides itself on providing nearly 6 million gallons of safe drinking water each day to the communities we serve. To reach our 20,000 customers in our four-county area, we use water from seven different water sources through a network of 458 miles of pipe. As part of our commitment to transparency, we present our annual water quality reports to our water
customers. These reports, called Consumer Confidence Reports (CCR), are mandated by the EPA for all public water systems in the U.S. They provide comprehensive information about your local drinking water quality. They include data on water sources, detected contaminants, compliance details, and educational information. CCRs are released annually with information from the previous calendar year. CCRs for our water service areas are available on our website: CLICK HERE to see the CCR for your area.
LET'S TALK LEAD
The Flint water crisis brought the dangers of lead in waterlines to the forefront. While additives in the treatment processes make our water safe to drink, the nationwide push to remove lead in waterlines is ramping up. In March, the Ohio EPA updated regulations regarding lead waterlines. Changes include the identification of all waterlines, public and private, and the removal of all lead service lines by 2037. The District has been working since 2018 to identify and remove lead waterlines through multiple projects. This year, we will continue to identify all water service lines. Once a list of all lead service lines is complete, we will start the process to remove those lines. Watch for more information in upcoming newsletters.
DUNBRIDGE I-75 INTERCHANGE WATER AND SEWER PROJECT
The $9 million project to build water and sewer lines to serve the community of Dunbridge and the SR 582/I-75 interchange is moving closer to construction. The project is on track to be awarded to a contractor late summer or fall, with work expected to begin soon after. Recently, The District completed demolition of a property near the intersection of Dunbridge Road and SR 582. This location will be the future site of a sewer pump station that will help transport wastewater 5 miles south to the Bowling Green Wastewater Treatment facility. The project will significantly improve public health by eliminating aged septic systems in the area with access to sanitary sewer lines. The project is funded through the Wood County Commissioners' delegation of funds from the American Rescue Plan Act and the Ohio EPA Water Pollution Control Fund.
