May Bill Changes: Winter Averaging
If you notice a change in your sewer charge this month, it’s because May starts a new cycle of winter averaging for residential customers. Winter averaging calculates sewer charges based on water usage during February, March, and April, ensuring you don’t pay extra for outdoor activities like watering lawns or filling pools. The average of these three months determines your sewer charges from May through next April. Eligible customers are automatically enrolled in winter averaging. If you have questions about your bill or the process, contact customer service during regular hours or CLICK HERE for more information.
Being a Good Neighbor: Cleaning up after Main Breaks and Construction
pring is here, and District crews continue restoring areas impacted by winter water main repairs and construction. While warmer weather has helped, April rain has made landscaping work more challenging.
“Wet conditions can delay grading, seeding, and final cleanup,” said Jarred Myers, District Construction Manager. “We want to make sure restoration is done properly, so sometimes we have to wait for the right conditions.”
Crews are working throughout May to level disturbed areas, add topsoil, reseed lawns, repair sidewalks, and clear debris. Due to weather some locations may take longer than others.
“We appreciate everyone’s patience,” Myers shared. “If you haven’t seen us yet, we’re on our way.”

Waterline Identification Continues
The District continues to identify and replace lead waterlines across our service area. Since launching this program in 2018, hundreds of lead service lines have been replaced, and we remain on track to remove all lead waterlines by 2037.
As of April, more than 92% of the system’s 20,000 waterlines have been identified. Identification efforts will continue through next year, and customers with unidentified waterlines will continue to receive updates as work progresses.

Hydrant Flushing
This month, The District will begin the annual task of flushing all 4,000+ fire hydrants in our area. This keeps water clean and ensures hydrants are working. During this process, you might notice lower water pressure or discolored water, but it’s safe to drink. Watch for more information in our project updates and social media.
