Keep Your Pipes Clear This Holiday Season

The holiday season brings joy, but it can also bring plumbing problems due to increased grease going down drains. Fats, oils, and grease (F.O.G.)—from meats, butter, margarine, lard, food scraps, sauces, salad dressings, dairy products, and cooking oil—can harden as they cool, clogging sewer pipes. This can lead to costly backups in your home and damage to our community's infrastructure.

Simple Steps to Prevent Clogs

  • Cool and Can It: Let F.O.G. cool and solidify in an aluminum can, then toss it in the trash.
  • Wipe Before Washing: Use a paper towel to wipe greasy dishes before rinsing or loading them into the dishwasher.

Don't let a plumbing issue dampen your holiday cheer! Remember: Can it, Cool it, Throw it away!
