Be Prepared: September is National Preparedness Month

Our team of highly trained, licensed, and skilled professional operators is dedicated to delivering top-notch water and sewer service 24/7/365, no matter the conditions. While we quickly address minor water leaks, it's essential to recognize that major disasters like flooding or significant water line breaks could potentially impact your drinking water supply.

As part of National Preparedness Month, we wanted to remind you of the importance of having enough water on hand to protect you and your family.

FEMA & Ready.gov advise you to prepare for a disaster that may impact your water supply.

  • Determine your water needs: It is recommended that you store a several-day supply, one gallon of water per person per day, for drinking and sanitation. Children, nursing mothers, and those with medical conditions may need more.
  • Purchase bottled water or food-grade storage containers and store in a cool, dark place.

For a complete list of disaster supplies go to www.ready.gov. Creating a disaster preparedness plan is the best way to ensure the safety and well-being of your loved ones.

Get Emergency Alerts

As part of National Preparedness Month, we want to inform you about a service that is beneficial during a water or sewer emergency. While water and sewer outages are

rare, when they do happen, you should be notified as soon as possible. The District, the Wood County Emergency Management Agency, and other local agencies have

teamed up to offer CodeRED. CodeRED is a service that alerts you by phone or text in an emergency.

To sign up, visit https://www.nwwsd.org/customer-info/code-red-emergency-alerts/. If you have an account, be sure your information is up to date.
